Our Name

Willow Commons honors both the property’s natural beauty and our community philosophy. The site’s gorgeous willow trees—known for resilience and adaptability—mirror the strength and flexibility of our residents. “Commons” celebrates the shared spaces at the heart of our community where connections flourish, and friendships grow.

The Residences

Our residential component consists of sixteen thoughtfully sized apartments.  Each unit is large enough for residents to enjoy personal space and privacy, yet designed to encourage connection rather than isolation. Many units offer flexible configurations — they can serve as solo spaces or be adapted to share common areas between residents, allowing roommate arrangements that suit individual preferences and social needs.

Spaces That Bring People Together

Willow Commons features carefully designed shared spaces that encourage organic interaction and community building.

In the communal kitchen and dining area residents prepare and share meals, experiencing the social connections that naturally emerge aroround food. A large multi-purpose room is used for for activities like yoga, art classes, game nights and community events. Informal gathering spaces throughout the property offer opportunity for spontaneous conversations and quiet connections.

Common Grounds, our vocational training coffee cafe, is where residents will develop barista skills while serving specialty coffee drinks to neighbors and creating meaningful interactions with the broader Portola Valley community (opening mid-2026).
